    Theme from Yojimbo

Konbanwa, my Moggy Brothers and Sisters. It's been a long, long while. Where have I been? Wondering free as Samuri without a Master. Stirring up trouble between rival gangs in small towns. It's been a weird few months culminating with my internet access at home being out for 2 or 3 weeks. It's surprising how dependent you get having that particular utility. Sure, I'd be more upset about not having water or heat, but not being able to jump online anytime you want? Well, one gets a little spoiled by it.

This should not limit one with Samuri skills. "Why did you not make MOG postings from work?" The tricky thing about a big mega-corpo-comglomeration is that the IT folks are always tinkering. Something that works one day, just plain won't the next. Posting worked for a while; then it didn't. Commenting worked for a while; then it didn't. So it goes. I very much wanted to join in on Mr. Knife's spirited discussion of "Wha' happened?" a few weeks ago, but simply had to gesture to the crowd from the sidelines, sharpening my sword.

And, of course, there's been the MOG retooling. We know it's coming, Mogfather, we know! I just didn't want to bother doing a work-around to set up something to link to a stream elsewhere. Call me lazy. Go ahead.

Finally, I will confess to the biggest eater of my online soul. The dreaded FB. You know what I mean. The great sucker of time; consumer of valuable minutes that you will never get back JUST so you can find out what someone had for breakfast or their general feelings about their Area Sports Team. Why oh why did I let myself be tempted by the FBook!

All obstacles aside -- well almost all obstacles -- I'm back to my evening Mog Patrol. I've got a bunch of SF acquired funk to share and other tidbits, once the new Moggy streaming thing-a-doodle is up and running. I'm a little creaky from lack of practice, so I'm gonna start out slowly and try and build up my stamina, again. Once a week or so. My samuri skill and balance will return. Until, then enjoy what inspired me get back to being a musical Ronin again -- the incredible, pulsating theme to Kurosawa's classic, "Yojimbo.", composed by Masaru Sato (or Satoh).

    Hai, ronin! Honored to see you back. Coincidentally enough, I spotted my pal James across the street the other day and shouted out, "Yo, Jimbo!" Y'know, I, too. must fight the Time Vampire that is the Book of Face. Here's my status: "Weary of the overkill." Otherwise, as Stan the Man might say, "Make mine MOG!"

    Welcome home, dearest. I love that music. So archetypically Japanese film music of its era - the sudden shifts in tempo and timbre, the oblivious mix-and-match attitude toward genres, the big single-note-on-the-melody passages. I love it all.....

    It's great to see you around these parts again. Keep the assaults coming, please (although all that sword talking scared me a bit)!

    Your Theme from Yojimbo eased my somber sad spirits from the devastating game last night here in town. Just thought I would add some local sports theme flair over here and not let the evil facebook hog it all.

    Arigoto my friends. Arigoto. It feels good to be back in Mog City. Apparently I forgot how to spell while out in the wilderness. Really, I do know the difference between Wonder and Wander, but perhaps in a subconscious way I created a bit of Zen koan.

    I was inspired during my..erm..sabatical...to bring together two of my obsessions -- music and movies -- and to education myself more about the great composers of film scores. Hopefully, I can aquire what I need to pursue this research and share my findings with the class.

    So good to see you all. You are truly the keepers of the Mog Flame.

    aaand you're back to the tune of Yojimbo. this is exactly why you're not allowed to be away for too long, sistah.

    the last hodgepodge of itinerant travelers i truly liked said our goodbyes by exchanging FB I.D.s. this means they're all still in touch, and i'm not. (friends hate me, i refuse to sign up.)

    and now for something to help you regain balance: remember that you (like me) are starting a new 12 month cycle. (;
