WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Happy Summer Solstice, y'all. We flip the page this weekend and move from Spring to "officially" Summer. The weather is appropriately hot; the days are long and the nights are short. Being a Northern Hemisphere grrl, I'm revelling in the twilight up until almost 10pm. Makes it hard to go to bed. Just want to stay up late, watching the stars come out, feeling the temperature cool. Ahhhhhhhhhh.

This is supposedly a pretty powerful solstice this year -- astrologically speaking. For many of us, it will close one chapter of our lives and while opening the next one. It occurs during a dark/new moon -- signfying endings and beginnings; a time for letting go and a time for planting new ideas/plans/beliefs. There's also some powerful healing energy going on related to an asteroid called Chiron. And some connections with Nepture and Jupiter that helps us tune into some other, intuitive frequencies. All in all, some pretty powerful Mojo! If that's not your bag, we're all sharing a ride on the same spaceship and passing an important mile marker in our trip around the sun. Which also signifys the advent of the outdoor concert-going season. ;-)

I've posted about Project Jenny, Project Jan previously, but since their song "Summertime" is the lead-off track to my Summer Solstice Mix Disc this year, I thought I'd share it with you. It feels like I feel this Summer of 09.

"She don't need no television;
She don't need no air-condition;
and She's as cool as lemonade with
ice on the side"

    Oh yeah! Enjoy, L.M.I.! As it happens, my recuperative sojourn in L.A. is now being graced by some bee-you-tee-ful late-spring SoCal weather. But I know summer is upon us. It behooves me to forget the leather jacket on some of these warmer days in the Basin and the Valley.

    Hey Mike - I hope the weather is helping with your recuperative processes. You without a leather jacket? That's hard for me to imagine. ;-)

    Oh Rawk - we wait months and months for this kind of weather, don't we? I don't think anyone should be allowed to b*tch about the heat until August! C'mon, we just spent 6 months in the freezer.

    A most blessed Solstice and thank you for the links.  In AL the heat index is expected to reach between 108-111.  Please allow me to bitch?!

    Permission granted, Wass.  Anyone outside of MN is allowed to express their feelings about the weather any way they want. ;-)  Hope you had a good solstice scope.

    My wife graduated from the U up there, so we at least have an honest comparison:)

    the only reason you will hear me bitch in August is because summer vacation is over and I have to go back into school

    I just came back from a holiday in Italy - not a single drop of rain for 20 days! :). But honestly I prefer the English sunny weather - it's not thaaaat hot as in bella Italia - sad only that it's never that long that sunny.

    So you believe in astrology? I met a wonderful Sicilian girl which analysed me astrologically. Though I don't believe in that kind of stuff she hit some points pretty well I must admit, which shocked me a bit.

    Why Herr Hermes! So go to see your Halo-ed self around here. 20 days in Italy? How wonderful. I hope you got to see and hear some fantastic things in the Italian sun-shine.

    Oh, I"m just an astrology dabbler - not a hard-core purist. I just kind of find it fascinating that it all sometimes lines up and makes sense.  Sometimes it's waaaaaay off.

    I saw a lot of fantastic things - hearingwise Italy is a bit harder to get a foot into. Somehow no one could tell me about the whereabouts of Italodisco which is currently so popular in London. Maybe I'm going to find out more on my next trip.
