Sunday UTC - With New Drugs

Posted about 3 years ago

Even though it's a rainy, cold day here on the middle coast, and potentially perfect for crawling under the covers with a couple of Tylenol PM tablets, I've got things to do.

This is a cover of that Huey Lewis chesnut, "I Want A New Drug", done by the Greenskeepers. I was feeling a bit like Neil when I searched around and found no one has posted anything about these guys on MOG. They are a wonderful freakshow of a group. I'll let their label describe them:
"But really, who are these mysterious Greenskeepers? Are they really a group of Satan worshipping golf jesters addicted to the excesses of the flesh? Do they spend more time making jokes and exchanging insults than taking themselves seriously? Do they really have something to do with the Rainbow Brite cartoon legacy? Unless you've shared time and space with one of most uniquely strange and original groups of the last decade, you may never know." (click here to read more).

Apparently, this song was featured in the movie "What Happens in Vegas." Guess, I...umm...missed that stellar bit of cinema.

I enjoy the slightly "Flying Lizards" treatment of the song. Whatever of your drug of choice today (sunshine, driving, shopping, reading, napping), do it in moderation

Lady, I was thrilled when I asked about you during our Princeton MogMeet last week and was assured that you are not a transvestite. (Not that there's anything wrong with confusion...)

Howdy Gents! Glad you are enjoying it.

Derm - I don't quite know how to respond to that. ;-)  I'm glad Cody B set the record straight (no pun intended).  The gender confusion thing happens with my name all the time. That's why I started putting "Lady Miss" in front of my name. But, then again, of course that makes me sound like a drag queen. Oh, it's all so 21st Century genderf**k.

Rawk -- I can't believe I've never seen that movie. I've had so many people rave about it to me. NOW I've got to rent it.

Inrum - Merci beaucoup. I lichen it, too. :-)

Hmmm. Maybe it's the avatar photos - which seem very shemale-next-door to a San Franciscan like yours truly, but might frighten the easily-spooked. In any case, lovin' the recalibrated "New Drug" - and I'll just add that the Flying Lizards shout-out was spot-on, Lady.

Lovin' those dirty synths. Kinda hard to add a little menace to that tune, but they do it. I have a remix they did of a Cymande song that is pretty nice..

Hey Mike - yeah, I know, I know. Kind of hard for me to help not using Diva pix. As a child, I was left in the wild and raised by drag queens. They're really my spiritual fairy godmothers.

Cody - Hey, that's s'nice. I could see myself (after a couple drinks) spinning around the dance floor, in a dance trance, with that one. Thanks for sharing.
