Max-I caught some of the show on Friday-There was another show up the street at Amoeba's Rico Pabon http://www.lapena.org/nexgen/rico_pabon.html and Ise Lyfe http://www.myspace.com/iselyfe
I liked what I heard but cat sounded like he was tired and ready to go home. I guess instores can be a bitch. Don't know too much about Murs though. I've heard "Hustle" and "Dark Skin White Girl" but I have to check out more. You heard the new album?
Side note-Best instore I've ever seen-MIA and Diplo at Amoeba on Haight last year. She came in late as hell and rocked it.
And thanks, the Spooky album comes out July 27th.
Kurt-Thanks for the link. I'm gonna have to pass this one on to the folks.
Jess- I remember this was one of the first songs I heard when I used to go to dancehalls. I swear, I would fall in love whenever this came on...
Rock-Riddim Warfare was my first spooky joint. I'd heard his name around but had no idea what I was in for. He's one of those cats that I love that also frustrates the shit of me sometimes.

yeah, i have some pics too that i've been meaning to put up, supposedly his dj forgot lots of shit and he had to just sit and talk on stage for like a half hour before he could even get started so he was abit pissed off, i came late, that's just what i heard. I saw that there was another show going on up at rasputins but i saw that and remebered "oh shit murs is playing" and ran down to amoeba...as for the new murs i've played a track on my show soley due to the review on the cd of tracks, i just saw 3 stars next to it...i liked what i heard, but i feel like the majority of the album is just ok...i'll let you know if i listen to any more...i've seen MIA twice, once with dip the other without, both times were crazy, one was opening for lcd soundsystem that was great!

Murs is a solid mc all around, never seen him live though. The new album isn't quite as good as the last one "3:16" in my humble opinion. But much like the last one you can't go wrong with an entire album produced by 9th Wonder. Like a next generation DJ Premier, all his beats have that signature sound that you can identify immediately, but somehow it never gets boring.

I just checked out Ise Lyfe on MySpace, so thanks for the heads up. I wish the lyrics were provided. I've noticed many times they are not provided on the MySpace collections and wonder why. It helps me to reflect on the singer's message if I can see the words written down, but this is probably because I am such a written word freak and an English/writing teacher.
