WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Nez Perce...

Posted about 1 year ago

This is the mix the Jeff Silverman and I finished this past week. Its inspired by the Nez Perce tribe led by Chief Joseph, when they were forced off their land in the Wallowa Valley. Their story touched me years ago, when my history teacher had us watch " I Will Fight No More Forever". Recently I bought the movie on DVD and watched it again.

Just a note... I am playing the Native American flute in the key of A. I also did the Reason programming.   Jeff Silverman is sound design, mixing.  He will be mastering the album.

Wow.  This is very professional sounding.

I love the distant ambience of the drums and synths.  Is that you playing the flute instruments?

It brings me back to the time I was listening to nearly nothing but ambient instrumental music.  Steve Roach, Patrick O'Hearn, Ray Lynch, David Sylvian and of course - the master himself - Brian Eno.

I am playing most of the flute sounds you are hearing.  Some of of the sounds are loops.. but Jeff is the master soundician.  : )  In August I go to Nashville to work on some surround sound mixing of this song and Carpe Diem as well as several other songs.

Wow. It reminds me of when me I first got to college (at Antioch) and after the initial excitement of being there, young and away from home wore off, I spent many a cool, crisp fall night alone, with a flask of oolong tea, sitting under a pine tree.

    Wonderful!

Very nice track - I've got some native American blood flowing in my veins, and that REALLY resonates

    Great Job
