David Ford is perhaps the best I've ever seen do this. I caught him play live in a round, looping various instruments and moving on to others, when he did a free show in Philly earlier this year. Seeing it live is amazing, seeing it on Youtube is still pretty cool.

It was this song.

Obligatory comment on the title: "Is that what they're calling it these days?"

The embedded video didn't work for me, but I managed to find the video code on view source and look it up directly on youtube.  That's a pretty good use of looping, and I know there are other artists that use it to good effect (Keller Williams, I think?) but I've seen some really awful ones too.  The name of the artist (thankfully) escapes me now, somebody I saw at the Chili Cookoff in Richmond in 2004 or 2005.  He basically set up the bridge of his song by looping some chords, added drumming on his guitar, maybe a little melodic riff... and then slid the guitar behind his back and just stood there for about a minute.

I hate that crappy "No embed" rule that people slap on certain videos. Anyhow, here's a link to the actual video: http://tinyurl.com/28guhk
