Songs Philip K Dick has a hand in… (Part 2)

Adam Green seems to have used the life, times and writing of PKD as inspiration for his song Computer Show. I give him an E for Effort. I break down just some of the references below:"Oh I stumbled in all wide-eyed To the computer show I didn't have my passport So they turned me into snow They turned me into snow”- Inspiration from Time Out of Joint, 1959 and Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said, 1974"Follow you follow you follow you follow you Into your bedroom store Follow you follow you follow you follow you Tell me what I’m for Tell me what I’m for” - Inspiration from nearly every PKD novel where the main character meets a girl (generally younger) who he falls in love with and usually ruins his marriage for while trying to figure out what his purpose in life is. For specific reference see Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? 1968“I stumbled into Canada Past border patrol Hawking empty kisses In the ghettos of my soul The ghettos of my soul”- Taken from the real life event where PKD, paranoid that the FBI were investigating him and concerned that a break-in at his home may have actually been committed by himself, traveled to Canada and joined a recovery programme (events which inspired A Scanner Darkly, 1977) “Follow you follow you follow you follow you Into your bedroom store Follow you follow you follow you follow you Tell me what I’m for Tell me what I’m for” - Inspiration from nearly every PKD novel where the main character meets a girl (generally younger) who he falls in love with and usually ruins his marriage for while trying to figure out what his purpose in life is. For specific reference see Confessions of a Crap Artist, 1975“You caught my eye against your eye Deep inside the crowd You hung me from the hooks inside My asshole and my mouth My asshole and my mouth”- Inspiration from Ubik, 1969 (the hooks are metaphorical) “Follow you follow you follow you follow you Into your bedroom store Follow you follow you follow you follow you Tell me what I’m for Tell me what I’m for” - Inspiration from nearly every PKD novel where the main character meets a girl (generally younger) who he falls in love with and usually ruins his marriage for while trying to figure out what his purpose in life is. For specific reference see The Man Who Japed, 1956“Oh I stumbled in all wide-eyed To the computer show I didn't have my passport So they turned me into snow They turned me into snow”- Inspiration from The Cosmic Puppets, 1957 “Take me home with you Take me home with you I need to go home with you I can't go home without going with you”- Inspiration from nearly every PKD novel where the main character meets a girl (generally younger) who he falls in love with and usually ruins his marriage for while trying to figure out what his purpose in life is. For specific reference see In Milton Lumky Territory, 1985
