I <3 Simon Breed
-
Artist:
Simon Breed is a huge talent. He is about 6 foot and a million! Huge! But as well as being tall, having big hands and having trouble finding women's shoes in his size, he is also one of my favourite musicians.I met him not long after moving to London outside the toilets of a Bauhaus gig where as he walked past, he finished off the lyrics I was quoting to a friend ('to the one true god above here is my pray, not the first you've heard, but the first I wrote. well, not the first but the others were a long time ago..."). I was in love.Simon Breed is also known as "the harmonica player from Placebo" and 'new cool friend', but it is little known that in my head he is also called the amazing Mr Breed. Why do I think he is so good? Well, his guitar playing is pretty damn impressive, his songs are never boring despite their running length, and he always has the right amount of effects to make things just that little bit dirty. His lyrics are super, and his songs lead the listener in an unlikely direction, to what can sometimes be outside of the comfort zone. Cunts, Pricks, Wankers and Shits is a city workers anthem about the trouble with bosses (and fits nicely with my favour bit of graffiti in London which nicely states: ‘all bosses are stinkers’). Little Lipstick investigates the trauma following being dry fucked by a dog as a child. I Spy the Spider is about spiders trying to freak each other out by dressing up like flies and talking about how dirty they are. Simon is playng a lot about England and you won't be sad to see him.
