WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

ATP - the beginning of the end

Posted about 1 year ago
ATP is honesty the best festival. I mean, camping is fun, but it always rains and I hate being wet and sleeping in dirt, so ATP is perfect for me. This is the second time I have been to Minehead and though there didn't seem as much happening this year as last, it was exceptional, though it is hard to separate the awesomeness of the bands from the awesomeness of the company. Our chalet had every singstar disk - I mean, you can't get better than that can you?Well, actually, you can, and it is in the shape of Saul Williams. When I grow up I am going to have babies with him. He doesn't know it yet. It will be a little surprise, I suspect.Anyway, here is Saul video, it is good, but not nearly as good as seeing him and the band live. Honest. BEST SHOW EVER. Yep.Oh and just a note - James doesn't really hate dance music (though it can be argued that James hates all music and dance shouldn't be singled out in particular.)

  4. King Sara says Yeah - ATP is a music festival. It gets curated by bands who basically pick who will play, what movies show etc. This one was curated by Explosions in the Sky. Minehead is a small English village in the South West. It has a Butlins (which is a chain campsite for families - like on the TV show Hi-De-Hi where you hire a little cabin.) ATP takes over the site for the weekend. It is basically hipsters at the beach. And singstar is the playstation karaoke game. It is a shameful pleasure.

  6. King Sara says It is amazing. They hang out playing football and minigolf in between their beard stroking Anima Collective lovin' self-consious music appreciation and shit indie-discoing. They are planning a New York ATP soon - http://www.atpfestival.com/events/atp-ny/ I highly recommend singstar as far as playstation games go. I mean, it can only improve any situation, right?

  9. Remote Control says I had tickets to a Saul Williams show in Portland and got the date wrong. Unfortunately, I got the date wrong in the wrong direction. It's one thing to think a show is earlier than it actually is. It's another to grab your tickets and get ready for the show on the day after it happened. Hope he stops by Portland again sometime soon.
