Lots of Pink, Baby Blue (A Boy/Girl Pop Debt To Dachmo)

Posted over 4 years ago
So I drunkenly promised dachmo this weekend I'd post a couple of good boy/girl harmony songs to repay his post here. As I try to be a man of my gin-soaked word, here they are.The first is from the pop band Game Theory. Vocal harmonies, either with bandmates or overdubs, were always an important part of their sound, but the chorus of this song has always stood out to me for the way the harmony seems to expand the space around it while simultaneously condensing itself. The second's in the comment.

  1. Kid Charming says The second is from a short-lived band called Park Ave., which was basically a bunch of teenagers just learning to sing and play who are now in different bands that you've heard of. It's sloppy, amateurish, young, and so very, very charming. This song happens to contain my single favorite musical moment. Ever. (It's at :36.) ~quUGNbaTM92.mp3~

  4. dachmo says **Park Ave:** Never knew there was a past to Bright Eyes. I'm still on the edge about him though, another artist I think who would be better off with a good editor to help whittle down his output. Also happy to read that Tilly and the Wall as well as The Faint grew out of this fun little band. Thanks for the gold. **Game Theory:** Will get a thorough going over later today.

  5. poebegone says you have an infectious way with words, thanks. i love the bit on harmony seeming to expand space. it makes me think of how, when someone leaves, they leave space and not you.
