Kent, do I win? Do I win?

(It doesn't matter, awesome list...I liked that Milosh record, too, though I'd sort of forgotten about it by November/October.)

The El Perro Del Mar record was first released in Spring 2005 in Sweden, which is a pity because it would be pretty high up for me as well. Lullabies To Violaine is from 2004 or 2005. That John Cale reissue made the top of my reissue list.

To be precise, although the two double-disc general release sets came out in March 2006, the limited edition box set of Lullabies To Violaine was released in November 2005 (according to the 4AD website).

dammit dammit dammit, you put howe gelb in yr top 10 and now I have to pay attention to yr entire list. (my own top ten acquisitions of 2006 would almost all be from the 90s or something.) maybe i should just print this, cross out the 2 or 3 i already have, and tell my family it's my christmas list.

hi kate, hi jenny! you win! you win!

hi chainsaw, did you comment just to fact-check or do you want a CD too? if you, you win!!!

i included el perro del mar according to its US release and, yeah, i wasn't aware of the limited edition cocteau twins set, so i'm including the general release double-disc that didn't appear in my world until 2006...

Yeah, I'm torn about this release date thing. For clarity's sake, I tend to go by original release and it's just too bad if I discovered a record only later. Note that the general release of Lullabies To Violaine comes in separate Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, each of them individually a double disc.

heya rob! i have pretty eclectic tastes, so i can't guarantee you'll dig all of my top ten just 'cause it includes howe gelb... you were the fourth to comment, but... if you mogmail me your mailing address i'll send you the compilations and you can decide which you like?

chainsaw: right, i meant the quadruple disc set! i'll confess, i drooled over a friend's copy but don't actually own it, all four discs are on my ipod and since cocteau twins are pretty much my most-listened to band ever i thought i'd include 'em... i respect you keeping things clear--i actually thought about just saying to hell with it to release dates and just list stuff i really dug this year, but i went ahead and made a somewhat sloppy 2006 list...

I wish I had a copy of the box set. But I missed out on it and had to content myself with Vols. 1 and 2. (I did get them for $10 a piece, so that relieves the sting a little.)

Another reason why I'm torn about the release date thing is that caring about it in a finicky way is a ticket to a dateless future. I'll shut up now...

I totally deserved to be smacked for that ridiculous about face. I'm sorry you chose to read my rant but I'm glad that you feel better after punking me. Here's to you.
