WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Who In Concert

Posted over 3 years ago
I went to see The Who in concert on Tuesday night at the Pepsi Center here in Denver. It was the loudest, greatest, and most riviting concert I have ever been to. I have been reading articles about their previous gigs on this 2006 tour, most of them saying that they seemed old and still had a little bit of the old magic. That was not the case. As Roger and Pete walked on stage they LOOKED old. Once Pete slammed into the opening riff of "I Can't Explain" and Roger began twirling the microphone, the pair both dropped 40 years instantly. Pete was jumping around all over the place and playing some possessed guitar, windmilling power chords and all. This concert was amazing not only because it was the frickin Who, but also because the "Opening" act was The Pretenders. Chrissie Hynde hasn't lost any of the early 80's magic she had during the first incarnation of the Pretenders. I was plesantly surprised to see that Martin Chambers has taken back his seat behind the drum kit after all of these years. His drumming was driving.I've seen a fair share of concerts in my life time and I can truly say that this one was the greatest. The Who made U2 sound and look like a Girl Pop group form the 90's. The new music from Endless Wire was inspired and even better when reproduced live. Pete seemed to be overjoyed to play this new music, to create a new Who generation for those of us in attendence who are young and to add another chapter for the masses of older fans who are young at heart.(Please excuss the crappy photo, I only had a camera phone.)

  1. Sturgell says some may consider that photo to be "crapy"; some may consider it to be "PO-MO".
