Life's not a bitch

Posted over 5 years ago
First time I heard this song, it was like a medival song put to a beat and rapped over by someone who was on drugs. Awesome! Then I really started listening to it heavily. (All this is like 5 years ago, mind you) And it honestly became an anthem. It's like a backpackers anthem. I remember going to shows and when the DJ between sets would put this on, the crowd would go nuts. And it's so awesome, even to this day."Life's not a bitch, life is a beautiful woman, you only call her a bitch cuz she won't let you get that pussy." is the greatest line in a hip hop song ever!

  2. ch33v3rs says Nice... I love responding to my comment. I got Labor Days, lyrical stamina at its best. What Crew is he down with? Is he RhymeSayers or Def Jux fam? You would probable really like Company Flow's Fun Crusher Plus album and anything that El Producto ever on, as well as Some Handsome Boy Modeling School (Prince Paul & Dan The Automator), Indelable MC's, Canibal Ox, Non-Phixion and LIving Legends ( Murs, Grouch, Eligh, Bicaso, Sun Spot etc). Thanks again... I love this place. control > KIARAN

  3. KebStarr says Awesome, glad you liked it. It was one of the first "backpacker" cds I bought, and it really got me into underground hip hop. Aes is part of the Def Jux crew, and Labor Days is his first album on the label (there are two EPs and another full-length). He appears everywhere though. He was in a group with Slug, Eyedea (of Rhymesayers), Blueprint and Illogic (of Weightless) called The Orphanage. They never released a full album, but certain tracks can be found on various albums here and there. I'm not a big fan of the Def Jux stuff apart from Aesop Rock, Murs and Mr. Lif. It's too artsy-technoish, or too old-skool-hip-hop for me. I dig anything Prince Paul does, especially his early stuff with De La Soul. The Handsome Boy stuff is awesome, and I love the Deltron album. I was REALLY into Living Legends about 4 or 5 years ago, and I still dig Eligh and Murs. I started losing track of all these guys when I got into rock music.

  4. ch33v3rs says It is hard to keep up at times, I smell you on that. I got a lot more selective about Hip Hop because I started to loose interest about four years ago. My new thing is Reggae and is has taken over my life. Dancehall in my opinion has taken over from Hip Hopin being new and fresh. The artistist are unique, that sound is pure fun and has all of the bragadosiuos elements that I loved about Hip Hop. T That is why you will see me at every show I can get to because Hip Hop has fallen off. Perhaps the problem is that Hip Hop is aware of it core audience getting older and is conflicted with keeping the young ones involvoled. Dancehall does not care because its older brothers and sisters have already made a name for themselves... So It can go out and do what it does best. MAKE PEOPLE DANCE IN THE HALL... Which really is the club and the live performance. BO > kiaran
