MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:
Album:

Coming of age in 90's L.A., it wasn't too hard to find a band that spoke to my conflicted feelings about my hometown. This band was known as Possum Dixon. Known for their incredible live shows and catchy art rock, Possum Dixon managed to capture the darkness and light of L.A. in each of their songs. Back in August, I made a post about my brother and his band, Counsellor. He's got some great new songs up, and a new project, Pill Module. Celso Chavez, the former guitarist for Possum Dixon is the singer, while my brother plays bass. They have a few songs up on Myspace, and are just starting to play shows around L.A. The song "Hurt to Feel You" has been in my head for weeks now. It's got everything i've been in the mood to hear lately: handclaps, full orchestral sounds and slightly depressing, nostalgic lyrics. I'm really excited to see where this band goes, so keep an eye on their progress, and if you're on Myspace, please stop by and say hi!

Hey, Possum Dixon rock. I thought I was probably the only one here who knows about them. I bought their New Sheets album after hearing Holding on the radio and falling in love with it. I always enjoyed the bonus features on the CD, which, sadly, don't work now that Quicktime is so advanced.

I'm surprised more people on MOG don't know about them. I guess it's time to educate :)

Possum Dixon were one of my favorite bands back in high school. I loved their debut A LOT.

I always thought that they were an underappreciated band that deserved more exposure to the masses. Thanks for the update. Those three songs in Pill Module's MySpace player are cool!

POSSUM DIXON!!! I saw them on the second stage at Lollapalooza '95 in Denver and was blown away--I thought they were going to be the next big thing. I wore my PD t-shirt with pride that fall when I started college in Indianapolis. No one knew who they were so I told anyone who would listen how awesome they were and played their stuff every week on my crappy AM radio show.

I'm very glad to find out about Pill Module and to look back on one of the key bands of my late adolescence, thank you!

Where were these guys (or where was I) when I was desperate and feeling like the 90's were a musical wasteland? I guess I was busy. And in San Francisco. Or something. Thanks, this is great.

I overdubbed a Phil Collins' "...But Seriously" cassette in order to make room for Possum Dixon's first album in 1995. And I'm still representing as I just purchased the "Music for a One Bedroom Apartment" three single box-set released by Pronto Records on eBay for NINETY-NINE CENTS!

Super e-bay score! And good choice on the whole erasing over Phil Collins thing.
