The Return of the Clerkenwell Kid

Posted over 3 years ago
Lately my life has been in a constant state of limbo, with lots of changes going on. One consequence of this is that I can't use my computer for online purposes right now, so I've been playing a lot of vinyl and cd's from friends. An album that seems to exemplify the alternating turmoil and beauty my life contains right now is the newest release by The Real Tuesday Weld. "The Return of the Clerkenwell Kid" sounds like what would happen if a dreamy-eyed English balladeer was given both Pro-tools and a 1920's phonograph player. Have you ever jitterbugged to an Incredible String Band album? Or tried to sing underwater? Stephen Coates (aka The Real Tuesday Weld) explores these scenarios as well as many stranger moments...Check out his entertaining blog, which features a downloadable track from the album as well as a fabulous series of podcasts: http://theclerkenwellkid.blogspot.com/

  2. LadyC says Enjoy the disconnected life, it makes you listen to that vinyl, do other things. Thanks again for this artist I never heard of, keep em coming.

  3. ookpik says The one free track sounds a lot like the quieter parts of Manitoba/Caribou (lots of little instruments, breathy boy vocals, and big wash of processing). Intriguing! I find I listen to more vinyl when my life gets disrupted too. Weird-- I thought LPs were supposed to be soooo inconvenient!
