Been A Long Time. . .

Posted about 5 years ago

Yes, I'm still alive. . .very much alive, actually. I have kinda taken a break away from much of my electronic existance (computers, etc) and have been reevaluating, prioritizing life. That's fancy talk for playing the blues, riding my motorcycle, sitting back with a glass of wine watching the train go by my backyard while my 3 rabbits graze on fresh hay. . .that sort of thing.

Its paid off. . .I've regained a sense of clarity in life and a bit of direction. I'm playing the best guitar I ever have - really feeling it, too. . . . Today, I also reconnected with some old friends and we are going to be playing some music together soon, maybe even doing a band thing.

I also am setting up a personal site for my ongoing projects, art pictures, whateva - just have fun and get some stuff out there (i.e. de-hermit myself,) . .lol. I will keep the music stuff here. After my dreaded computer overhaul/XP reload next week, I will have the MoG-bot running again and update/index my ever growing music collection.

Been stuck on the pre-war blues in both playing and listening. I picked up a real good Blind Willie McTell collection as well as a bunch of Lead Belly.

I have been playing more music than listening, lately, though. I REALLY need to pick up a good resonator guitar so I can keep my present acoustic in D and the resonator in my open tuning flavor of the moment, usually open D. I've been all acoustic for months now. . ..need to break out the electric more often, but I'm in a zone with acoustic stuff.

The motorcycle has been a blast, by the way. I did a ton of custom stuff to it all winter and wrapped up the last few details last week. The weather has been beautiful ever since. . like 70+ today! I have put a few hundred miles on the bike and its running like a champ. Its a real sense of freedom zooming along with the wind with your mind clear - an almost surreal alertness about you.

So, yeah, music. .. .motorcycles. . .3 bunnies & me. . . . life isn't too bad ; ) I should be around more often and will post my other site addy soon.. . .see ya

Here is a picture of the most forlorn looking caboose. I have seen this particular caboose go back and forth dozens of times over many months. The train work crews use it for a break shack or something. Its frequently parked in my backyard, even (well, Union Pacific tracks just beyond my backyard, by like 10 feet ;) It sure would make an interesting place to jam or record in but I just watch it come and go instead, not wishing to be rousted by railroad police. . .he he

  1. Zeroskilz says It's nice to hear that some are breaking out of the funk that a lot of us seem to be experiencing. The weather here had turned great for riding, but it's in the 30s again. Too cold to be on a bike. I can't wait to start riding every day. Thanks for sharing.
