One of the downsides of a phenomenally long career is the temptation to re-do classic hits.

I'm pretty sure I've never heard a re-do that overall delivers better than the original, despite the frequent addition of slicker arrangments and stereo recording/mixing (or the hidous abomination of 'stereoizing' -- tricks to make mono sound like stereo).

Many of th tracks on this so-so collection are original mono single recordings -- but not all, unfortunately. And a few of the re-do's are pretty awful.

I wish to heck that the labels would have a little respect for the music they suck so much money out of and give us the information we need in order to select/buy the recordings we want, instead of lame re-do's we don't want.
