The latest EP from Blitzen Trapper (the American Folk Rock group attached to Sub Pop) Black River Killer, is a meaty 7 track ep that sticks to the ribs. Logging in at just over 35 minutes, it's already as long, if not longer than some the albums I've been listening to this year, and already much more relevant than most of the albums I've listened to (nearly 3 a week).
Upon repeated listening, I can't help but think of the ease with which BT pulls instantly approachable album, and in only 7 songs, manages to create a fully comprehensive experience. Pulling from several sub-genres, and eras, I'm floored by how everything clicks and makes just makes. Going Down is quite Beatlesque without being cliche, Big Black Bird, melds The James Gang and early Bowie into one of the most memorable end tracks in recent memory.
I've had this album on loop for quite a while now, an am still salivating for more. Definitely a must own!
