Wilco stands to be the only thread of country that I can stand without wanting to puke. And that, my friends, is a feat within itself. Even though they're technically "alt-country", to me they don't sound at all country. Yet, I've been blessed with parents who didn't force any genre upon me, so I could have an entirely different idea of what alt-country is supposed to be. Anyways, Wilco's latest album, Sky Blue Sky, makes me very happy. It's just the right amount of music and vocals so that it can blend right into the background, or (depending on how high your volume knob is turned up) it can demand your attention. My favorite song on the album has to be the title track, first and foremost for the lyrics, and then for the way it was composed and sung. Jeff Tweedy's voice is so mysterious, and quiet, that you feel that you have to stop whatever you are doing to listen to him. I love this song to pieces.
