I suggest heading to npr.org right now to check out Wilco's show streaming live from Washington D.C.'s 9:30 Club.
I caught them at the Shubert Theatre on Sunday night and I gotta tell you....I was completely sucked in. The crowd and band were one on this night in this intimate room. I have not experienced that feeling in a long while. My friend Bryan said it best, "sonic bliss".
I have not been on the Wilco train since the beginning but I am now glad to have a seat onboard. Nels Cline on guitar adds that extra dimension that has taken these guys to a higher place. I know now why many drool over Tweedy...I did wipe my chin a few times during the night.
If there is a better live band playing right now, please tell me when and where so I can buy a plane ticket.
Oh...one more thing..if you have not listened to Wilco's new album, Sky Blue Sky, get it. It is a classic in my book.

I can't imagine what this band will do to Tips...not that Tips can't handle it!

We were also at the Shubert, what a show! Been listening for a while but seeing them live was a real treat :)

the best live band in america( along with the drive-by truckers) right now

Is Russell Batiste in Wilco now? I didn't think so - so clearly they cannot possibly be the best band playing in America. However - they do rock! Hard! I, too, was on a different train for quite some time, but last summer saw Nels, Tweedy, and co at the Edgefield outside Portland and was BLOWN AWAY! Maybe Russell needs the message to sit in at Tips - that would be f-ed!

Just make sure Russell's microphone is unplugged....my vocals are stronger than his.
