Something Different To Add To Your James Brown Collection

Posted over 3 years ago
With James Brown being my first concert at the ripe age of around 3, the groove seeds were firmly planted in my soul.On this 1970 release, Soul On Top, the Godfather of Soul is backed by the Louis Bellson Orchestra with Oliver Nelson conducting. It is a treat to hear this collection of standards and jazzed-up covers of his own hits in the big band setting.

  4. Jess Horrible says James Brown is (was) aces. If these orchestral arrangements are anywhere near as tight as his originals, this must be an awesome album.

  5. supertopsecret says James Brown has funkified my life since birth as well. It is indeed a shame that he has passed, but he will live on in everyone that goes to jail for years of arrests. He will live on in everyone that has a funky step in their walk. He will live on every time a man screams at a woman or a woman screams at a man. Justin, he will live on through all of our funky times. Peace to the funky, eric oprah
