Good Vibes with Trey

With the much publicized negative press surrounding Trey over the past few years, it was like a breath of fresh air walking through the doors of the music hall of williamsburg on August 7. Smiles were abound as strangers became instant friends as we all shared in the joyful moments of anticipation leading up to the lights going down. When Trey, Tony, Russ, and Ray took the stage, the crowd erupted and this was music to my ears. The first tune was a new tuned called "Alaska" which had a 80's Jerry Band "how sweet it is" and Little Feet feel good groove to it and the crowd was more than happy to latch onto. Over the years, my ears have been particularly honed in on Trey's guitar but I found myself drawn to his vocals during this night. As Bryan noted, "You can just hear it in his voice how much more healthy he is physically and emotionally." While the first set felt like a fun dance party, "Valentine", a new tune in the second set, was the true blast off for me bringing back many of the old feelings and reminded me of why so many years were dedicated to THAT sound. Needless to say, I am excited to see and hear what the future will bring for Trey 2.0 !

Encore: I must also mention that my wife and I took our 4 year old daughter, Bella, to her first Trey show three days later at All Points and it was as fun as any hour I have had in my life.
