Badal Roy (tablas) and Michael Henderson (bass) were central players on Miles Davis' groundbreaking and controversial 1972 jazz-funk album "On The Corner". Partnering with visionary guitarist Kenny Wessel (Ornette Coleman), Stepping Off "The Corner" is a one-time performance of music extrapolating from where "On The Corner" leaves off. Joining Roy, Henderson, and Wessel in this incredible ensemble is Mike Clark (drums), Steven Gorn (woodwinds), Ingrid Jensed (trumpet), Daniel Moreno (percussion), Rudresh Mahanthappa (saxophone), and Adam Klipple (keyboards). Expect the unexpected is an understatement - come for an unforgettable performance of new musical departures from this band of virtuosos.
"one-time performance" often scares me as it gets me thinking how tight can they possibly be and just how far out can they take things?
That being said, it will be a beautiful night weather wise with the sun setting beyond the statue of liberty.....looking forward to seeing and hearing what goes down!
