Get some Deerhoof in your diet

Posted over 5 years ago
My friends have been raving about the power pop avantgarde rock trio, Deerhoof for a while now. I listened to some of their albums, and was neither blown away nor turned off. They happened to be in town for a Sunday show at Baltimore's best concert venue, the Ottobar. Now that I have seen them live I get what the fuss is all about. Their drummer beats his 4 piece drum set like a rented mule. He played the set with authority, so much so that it is hard to believe that the set is only four pieces. I have not seen a drummer make a set that small sing like he did. The drummer sets the odd rhythm creative tones that the guitarist takes to the next level. The guitar ranged from melodic pop to straight up shredding. These two are balanced by the steady base and sweet sound of the singer. Even while being under the weather, she filled the room with her vocals. If you can, GET SOME DEERHOOF IN YOUR DIET.

  2. Judson76 says Dammit, I can't make either of those shows. The Johnny Brenda's show is already sold out, and from the looks of it will be the ideal venue to see Gener solo.
