MUSIC CHATTER AND MATTER

Qool?uest and the Funky Drummer...

Posted over 2 years ago
Little snapshots like this are reasons why I have such an appreciation for certain musicians. First off (as I've understood it),this is a snapshot of some studio time during the making of D'angelo's Voodoo sessions. D is on keys, covering a wide range of territory, Pino Palladino is on bass completely ripping it up and then there's Mr. ?uest going note for note with one of the most famous breaks in recording history. Just wait until the breakdown-"one, two, threefour hit it!"- if you don't believe me..Yessir!J-

  1. Oatmeal says What happened to D'Angelo? I heard he got arrested for cocaine and DUI or something. Such a shame. Voodoo was soooooo good.

  5. Jshua says @Oatmeal--I hear he's doing much better and is sitting on a legendary album that's yet to be released entitled; James River. We'll see.... Btw, The incredible Alan Leeds is actually his manager! @CodyB--I know, right? Once I heard this, I was hooked on any live stuff I could find from that time period. @mktackabery--They also do a pretty darned cool version of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Fair but so uncool"... I'll see if I can find it.. @ivylander--Pino is the man on bass! I've never heard anything he's done that I didn't like..
