If you like you pop whimsical and your folk fun the you could a lot worse than listening to "Slow Club.":http://myspace.com/slowclub Sounding like a British Tilly and the Wall (though unfortunately sans tapdancing, catchy choruses, gentle acoustic guitars and eccentric lyrics seem to be their thing. These elements are worked together through the beautiful harmonies of Rebecca and Charles, delivered with humour and enthusiasm. Slow Club are laying down the perfect soundtrack for a summer pic-nic: a carefree and cheerful indiepop ray of sunshine which will have you singing and swaying till the early morn.*Because We Are Dead*And on an entirely unrelated note, the new London Olympic symbol (in case you haven't seen it yet):It cost £400,000 to design and within an hour over 3,000 people had signed a petition against it: "modern" and "dynamic" or a cross between a deformed swastika and the Simpsons commiting incest? You decide.

I have two questions. 1 (could be a rhetorical one) is why did it cost so much to design and 2 is what does it stand for, what are the geometrical shapes depicting? Am I missing something?
(OK, those were 3)

Ok
1. Because they decided to go to a big, pretentious marketing company to get it done...Possibly they recruited "Nathan Barley":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4mpJumHU-w himself
2. It says 2012, can't you see that?
I much prefer this one:

Anna, I'm going with b) on your latest comment, because I couldn't see it either. Don't you think Banksy could have come up with something much cooler for $50, which wouls have screamed "London"?

I am with Dale. That would be my vote too. But, as often occurs in the UK, the officials are out of touch with reality. The Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire, Scotland sports the tagline as "Pure Dead Brilliant" (an old 80's Glasgow saying). Everyone hates it, and in my humble opinion, "Dead" and Airports should never mix.
And the music is very infectious. Thanks for the post.

Too true annieander...at least it's not as bad as the mascot for the 2002 Commenwealth Games, the Manchester Mad Ferret...
Mad for it, mad ferret...geddit?

First off. The song was nice and catchy. I have never heard of Slow Club. I rather enjoyed them.
Second. Uh...that is what won? This just goes to show you how some people are really out of touch with reality. Until you pointed out that it said 2012 I had no idea. It is kind of like some of the crappy looking art museums we have to look at on our city streets. I present you with Minneapolis, Minnesota's most unsightly example of "art". The Walker Art Museum.
I realize, art is subjective. People may like this building, I personally think it is an eye sore....just like the 2012 Olympic symbol.
Dale says
All I ask, and it's really such a small thing, is that you please tell me that the ferret's name is Cyril. C'mon ... Manchester, Mad Cyril?

Snappy lil' tune, Jox. Very Summer-like.
OMG - that logo is NOT the dogs bollocks. It's just bollocks. I couldn't see the 2012 in it either. Designed by committee for sure. The tube logo is good. I liked the one on the BBC site that had something like streamers coming out of the flag. Good golly, don't those ad agencies get it? It's an international pictograph - everyone has to be able to be able to see "Olympics" upon looking at it, no matter what language you speak.

Yucky!
I like the user-designed one with the Union Jack, and the Underground one posted here.
In related news, I met Misty May and Kerri Walsh the other day. That was pretty cool! (They are the American gold medalists in beach volleyball.)

Cute 'n catchy 'n downhomey chune, Jox. As for logos, I like the one that says "LOOOONDON." (Watch out for the loooons. They're everywhere.)
