WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Like

Posted over 2 years ago
I can't believe these gals didn't make it big last year, so I think it's time I began championing them, which will surely lead to success ;)From Wiki (with some interjections from me)"The Like formed in September of 2001 by three girls at the tender ages of 15, 15 and 16, respectively. The band members are all daughters of music industry veterans, with Z's father being former Geffen A&R man/record producer Tony Berg _(suspicous, huh)_, Charlotte's father as producer Mitchell Froom and Tennessee's father Pete Thomas, longtime drummer for Elvis Costello. Since childhood, bassist Froom, singer/guitarist Berg and drummer Thomas were all immersed in classic rock, and all three took piano lessons before teaching themselves their current instruments. _(so maybe they aren't as manufactured as you thought)_They formed when the parents of childhood friends Tennessee and Charlotte learned that Z had been writing songs and showed interest in forming a band. Charlotte learned bass two weeks before joining, and the three began working together, getting fast results, especially considering that they formed the band when they were 15. _(see, they are just genuinely talented)_The name comes from a habit that the girls, as many do, have of saying "like" all the time. Tennessee's mother suggested it and it stuck._(yeah, i know that means they are probably really annoying, but listen to the music, no-one wants you to talk to them)_"Now dig the "website":http://www.ilikethelike.com or the "myspace":http://www.myspace.com/thelikeAnd before you say anything Blair, I've already called dibs on the bassist, haha

  5. Jonh Ingham says Maybe part of the problem was finding the music? I read a really glowing write-up in The Sunday Times and couldn't find the tunes anywhere. Who cares who their parents are? They didn't have any say in the matter. And if 'manufactured' gets us the mighty Girls Aloud, then more please!
