WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

And if no-one makes a sound...

Posted 4 months ago

And so it came and went. The Mogiversary. Three years. Where once I would mark them off month by month, this one faded into obscurity. Nothing worth noting, nothing to say. I guess the spark has gone.

That's not to say I didn't try. Those late nights, the days I'd check in on you everyday, every hour, just to see how things were going, those times I couldn't tear myself away. But that was a long time ago. Things have changed, I've changed, and you've changed. I am not going to debate whether things are better or worse, whether what has altered was right or wrong. All I know is that this doesn't feel the way it did, or the way it should. we had a lot of fun times together, but those have dwindled and disappeared.

So, I guess this is goodbye.

I was going to write something similar, but its a lot sadder coming from you.  :(

So...in effect you're saying rthat there is no longer anything worthwhile to listen to on here? Nothing new or unexpected? Nobody you can engage in debate? The whole World of MOG has opened itself up, and there's nothing there any more - is that what you're saying?

On the face of it, I find it astonishing that you can't find anything to like. Granted, I'm no fan of MMN posts, and observe a massive lack of engagement between these bloggers and the "debaters", but even there I can uncover the occasional gem. Your call, but I think there's a vast range of music out there whose surface you haven't even scratched

Baudolino, that isn't what I'm trying to say. It's just that for a while now I've felt that the enjoyment I used to get instantly from MOG I now have to fight to find, and for many reasons, both within the site and elsewhere, I've got tired of fighting.

One does what one must do, but that doesn't change the fact that you will be missed if you bail out. You have contributed mightily to what's been worthy about MOG, Jox. Although I wish you all the best in your endeavors, you should still drop by now and then. We'll keep some hot mp3s on the hard-drive for you...

Jox, there are lots of people on here who care about who you are and how you're doing (myself included)...personally I don't think that's so easy to find elsewhere online or even in R/L...I will wish you a fond farewell but also a welcome back if you are ever so inclined!

Well, Jox me lad, I don't think of it as bailing; but I certainly know exactly what you mean about the abscense of immediate gratification. Count your blessings...I do. It's been my great pleasure sir. If I'm here if you come back, 'till then...if not, have a great life. Allow me to add to your theme from my age. Peace out.

Happy Mogiversary sir. Sorry to hear you're parting ways, but I understand where you're coming from and you're certainly not the only one. We've heard the same thing time and again. Hopefully you'll find your way back again... until then, we'll keep the porch light on for you.

We're still here, we all still post , granted not as often as in the beginning. I know you were here a whole year before I ever joined on but I still feel like part of the old school group you're talking about. I miss those days as well. But you have to remember in those days we treated MOG like a keg party that no one wanted to leave. These days it's more like a dinner party with a few friends and more often than not I find that to be just as enjoyable. Don't leave. That's too final.

This is depressing to read. You've alway sbeen one of the most interesting people to read and learn about - do come back from time to time and update us on your adventures.

Thanks guys, it means a lot to read these things, even after this time. But then I wouldn't have made this post if I didn't care about MOG and the friends have made here - it didn't feel right to just slip away. Also, I now feel the title of this post was a little misleading; I was talking about myself and my anniversary, not MOG in general.

As for the page, it will be staying up, I've invested too much here to just send it into the abyss. Maybe one day I'll come back, maybe not. And don't hesitate to MOGmail me.

So not so much goodbye, as take care.

Although MOG has changed massively, I would imagine at your tender age personal changes would have outstripped that. You will be missed.

But I AM thinking that if we sent Anna to you with a gallon of massage oil maybe you'd change your mind....

Mark, nothing like the good old feeling of being whored out lol!

Joxy, seriously though, you do know that you're a train ride away and I can send my minions over to 'persuade' you.

I know that your new college life is altering in many ways, and there's not much that can be done about that. Like you said, keep your page up, have a glance when you feel like it, and who knows what might happen in the future.

If you don't do all the above, you can be sure that we'll never give you a 12 in Eurovision EVER AGAIN.

Saying goodbye with a song of the very band that caused us to meet? And as you walk away my headstone crumbles down...

The fact that there were only comments on 12 posts in the last 24 hours points to summertime and the changes that have made this place more like a series of blogs than MOG. Tis what it tis.

Ouch. All of this makes me feel like I just got dumped. Guess I should have a drink, listen to Zepplin, and write some dirty bathroom graffitti . . . you know, cope.

Jox.  What to say that hasn't been said already?  I'm glad you changed it to "take care'--that one change can really make a difference.

Too true this place has changed.  I guess I'm part of that group that just can't seem to let it go, although I've gone from several posts a day down to several a week, if that, this is still one of those places I can't quit.  For me now, it's more to keep up with people than postings, honestly, but it's still why I stay around.

See you elsewhere in the interwebs, my friend.  Enjoy your summer, year two of The Best Years Of Your Life right around the corner!
