mewithoutYou concert

i went and saw mewithoutYou about a month ago. it was a good show, and even though it was a while ago, i didn’t have this mog journal to write about it. my roommate took me to the show for my birthday present (good job matt!) so i got to see them for free. when we got there we found out that the main act, say anything, cancelled, so mewithoutYou got to play a whole hour. we were so stoked because we love mewithoutYou and say anything sucks. my friend brian got to hang out with aaron weiss, the lead singer, before the show and ate dinner with the band. also, towards the end of the set, brian’s father-in-law got to play indian flute with the band on “c-minor.” that was pretty sweet because stu rock’s. it turns out that the guitar player, chris, married amy’s (brian’s wife) childhood friend, so that’s how they know the band. next time i hope that i get to eat dinner with mewithoutYou. that was a good night. after the show i went home to pick up a vega tenor banjo that was made in 192? it is a whole different instrument from the banjo. i have been trying to learn it, but i don’t have much time on my hands right now. i think this blog is mogworthy. ciao!-jps – mewithoutYou types “G-d” whenever they refer to God in their lyrics. i found out today it is because this is how messianic (sp?) christians write God. it comes from the belief that God’s name is too holy to spell out or something like that.

  1. Puffmagic says mewithoutyou are amazing, for sure. I saw them open up for Coheed and Cambria and Blood Brothers (and odd pairing in some ways) but they rocked so hard I was ready to leave after their set and wouldn't have felt like I'd missed anything. I want them to come by the west coast more!

  2. supertopsecret says The whole G-d thing is pretty interesting. I remember mewithoutYou. I used to love them wholeheartedly. Thanks for giving me a flash back of my hardcore days. I used to be all about Locust and Daughters haha.
