Four Winds=Do Over

Posted over 2 years ago
I don't want to go as far as saying its a mess....but its a mess. It doesn't flow, too much twang and just not at all what I was expecting. I know this is a prelude to Cassadaga and therefore I am very scared. Other than the electronic nightmare I won't name, Bright Eyes can't usually can't go wrong on a full length. I still think Tourist Trap is an amazing song but the others just don't do it for me. I'm not sure if its because Connor brought in too many people and gave them too much creative control or because he has been watching a lot of bad westerns. I also like Smoke Without Fire but it leaves me wanting to pop in some M. Ward and forget about Four Winds altogether. I still have hopes that Cassadaga will be pleasantly surprising, but I feel Four Winds is going down a road I don't want to travel.

  1. alexander wright says I think that "Cassadaga" will be better than "Four Winds". I believe "Four WInds" is basically the b-sides. So, God willing, "Cassadaga" should be much better. I do agree that it doesn't flow well, though I'm not sure it's supposed to. "Tourist Trap" is definitely the standout track. Though I'm a sucker for steel guitar, and so "Four Winds" (i believe), also stood out. Either way, I'm with you in the hopes of Bright Eyes not letting us down. hah
