MOG MOG

BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

Track: You Don't Know My Mind
(22)

With all the recent posting on Alejandro Escovido and his new album produced by Tony Visconti, I thought I’d highlight Alejandro’s choice use of cover songs. It’s a tradition that in every encore he does cover versions. While you’d expect a man who’s lived and fought through punk, country, and Texas tinged rock and roll to choose Iggy, The Ramones, The Stones, Bowie, the Velvets, and Hank Williams, plus nods to his LA days with excellent interpretations of The Gun Club and The Plimsouls’ Peter Case, his choices also include Santo & Johnny, Ian Hunter and Rod Stewart’s "Hot Legs"!

A fan has recorded enough encores to make up a dense double CD and with Alejandro’s blessing put it on the Net for download. Go to your favourite torrent site and enjoy.

For a taste of Alejandro's taste, below are some visuals for your delectation. The audio treat behind The Red Button is "You Don’t Know My Mind", a traditional song credited to Leadbelly. Alejandro’s take on it is an up-to-date delight.

"I Wanna Be Your Dog"

"Pale Blue Eyes" (in Paris)

"Beast Of Burden"

"A fan has recorded enough encores to make up a dense double CD and with Alejandro’s blessing put it on the Net for download." Very smart, great to see this kind of thing happening.

I agree, Colin. While Alejandro needs money more than many of us do (he had a serious illness and of course no health insurance), he seems a fan first of all.

I searched but can't find it. Can you direct me to a site that has the covers project for download.  Thanks

It was on dime a dozen, but isn't there any more, and piraboogle.com didn't show anything either. Guess it's in a transition period between seeders putting it live.
