Death Cab For Cutie

Posted over 2 years ago
Bands get their names from some pretty strange places. Ever wonder where Ben Gibbard found his?The Bonzo Dog Band were one of the best, most surreal experiences British rock produced. Anything by them is highly recommended.

  1. Kate says Oh, the Bonzos.... I love them so. Didn't know there were videos around- i'm going to have to go look for more now! I especially adore their version of "Suspicion".

  4. ivylander says I think "Death Cab For Cutie" is actually one of their lesser songs. But I don't suppose "Look Out, There's A Monster Coming" would have worked as well dramatically....

  7. fairportfan says This video, for those who don't recognise it (i posted it some months ago) is actually an excerpt from the *Beatles*' film Magical Mystery Tour; when i first saw the film, i had no idea who the Bonzo Dog (doo dah) Band were. MMT itself, of course, has been parodied so well by *Eric Idle* and ex-Bonzo *Neil Innes* in the Piggy in the Middle sequence in *The Rutles*, that, if you watch that, you pretty well don't need to watch Magical Mystery Tour. (Magical Mystery Tour is, indeed, a film of which it may be said that, in general, there is no there there.)

  8. greeninkstains says Oddly, my friend and I were talking about bands taking their names from strange places. I brought up Death Cab and she brought up Radiohead. To make it seem even odder, I was listening to the Beatles at the time and she was listening to Talking Heads. Thanks for the video.

  9. kellywatchthestars says For those of you who thrive on usless Beatles trivia (like me), "Death Cab for Cutie" was also the only song featured in Magical Mystery Tour that was not written or performed by the Beatles.
