Came home last night to hear the sound of Dave Brubeck coming from the study, where my 11 year old daughter was doing homework. Turns out she heard 'Take Five' on a TV ad, had hummed it to her mum and been digging the CD for the rest of the day.
Last spring she wanted another song from a TV ad and detective work tracked it down to Johnny Guitar Watson's 'Gangster Of Love'.
Some musicians go on about how their work is sacred and will never be profaned by appearing on a commercial. But now that US radio has disappeared into the black hole of Clear Channel and UK radio has been colonised by thick barbarians who can't even speak grammatically, advertising is doing the job radio once did -- educating kids to the cooler reaches of music. If you're in the ad business, we praise you.

My Trusted MOGs
Can't begin to say enough about how Dave Brubeck influenced me when I was a wee lad.
Take Five is quintessential, and still relevant... I think I'll listen to it again today... Thanks for reminding me.
