African Tuesday - Salif Keita in Mali

Posted over 3 years ago

Been doing a lot of work lately and finding Salif Keita is the perfect music to accompany it. When I get time I'm going to drop a couple of blinding tracks on you, until then here's a fun video of life in Mali to go with his princely rhythms.

I only have one salif keita album and it is the one from which this song is taken... but it would be one of my first picks.  Everything is perfect on this song... the spine tingling chorus/response.... how the song picks up at the one minute mark..

Great stuff!  Thanks for the video... never seen it before

What a marvelous recording.  It hits my bullseye.  The video's footage is fascinating, but I want to murder the editor.

Spike - I agree. Edited by someone who can't stop to think that the footage itself is enough.

Exactly.  I'm not an expert, but traditional conventional styles of film editing (or of any other pursuit) are the result of accumulated wisdon that an innovator would benefit from learning.

Suh-leek! And combined with poebegone's Wganda Kenya post, it truly is an Afro-beatnik's delight at MOG today.

More than anyone else, he's the African singer I would most love to see live. Great, great, great. You never fail us, Mr. Ingham....
