Andy McKee - An Amazing Guitarist

Posted over 2 years ago
Andy has 6.9 million hits on YouTube for a very good reason. He plays beautiful guitar in a way that will fill with wonder. Anyone who's a guitarist will appreciate how hard it is to do what he's doing. Like all maestros, he makes it look easy.

  1. RGM says Oh yea, I've heard of this guy he's a re-action to the 2 handed bass stuff that basses do. He really good at that, I dig his approach and style it's neat.

  4. steve simon says audio and visual seems a little incongruent, are we sure it is not doctored?

  5. Hermes says This is the second guy now I know, who plays the guitar completely different, than they do it usually and where it seems to work equally fine if not better - aside from the circumstance, that he also uses it as a drum. A friend of mine plays the guitar equally "wrong" - with less muscial success and without using it additionally as drum, where I saw this technique the first time. I thought it would be maybe a technical drawback to play the guitar that way but here I see that this is not necessarily the case. I never played this instrument, so I can't judge that from the players perspective. Is he maybe an autodidact regarding playing the guitar?

  10. Ben FELTEN says Very interesting. He's not the first guy (or indeed gal) to play in this acoustico-percussive way I've seen on Youtibe in the last few months. It's visually and rhythmically cool, but I can't help but find it fairly repetitive fairly fast. In other words, fun seeing, but I wouldn't buy the record.

  12. Spike says Six million hits. On Mog, one's lucky if one gets six hits. This McKee guy also looks like he could beat me in arm wrestling.

  16. Jonh Ingham says I can't help thinking that the bridge and hole must be feeling lonely for lack of fingerly companionship...ah- his right hand finally agreed. Seriously, that is an interesting way of fingering the fret board.

  17. wassonii says Second vid looks like he'a had some time manipulating a chapman, though some phenomenal stuff.
