The Gorgeous Sounds of Los Lobos & the Latin Playboys

Posted about 5 years ago
The sound of the Latin Playboys is just purely stunning - I don't know what else to say. I'm a great admirer of Los Lobos – “La Pistola y El Corazon” is one of my favorite songs, and the album with the same name is one of my favorite records. Its gorgeous, its epic, its a delicious, swooning tragedy.

  1. Paul Busch says Los Lobos....I love them to bits and it is one of the 'disappointments' of living in Australia that in 24 years (here from NYC that) I have only seen them 3 times here and once in N'awlins. The beauty of the acoustic Los Lobos or the R 'n B and rock of the Jam Band Los Lobos are a thing to simply die for. The moon may tell me one thing and the stars may tell me another..but my soul hopes the wolves may stay forever young. Peace Paul

  3. MSGQuixo says If you enjoy rock en espanol/ alternativo, you may enjoy Julieta Venegas. Her first album Aqui was brilliant. She plays accordion and many other instruments and the songs are simple and primal, but the sound is so rich. I like her latest stuff too, but it feels much more mainstream -- it is like that part of Madonna's music that I can admire if I don't think about it too much.

  4. jonno says "La Pistola y El Corazon" is one of the sweetest, saddest but beautiful songs ever. Love your taste in music. Do you like any Arabic music? Amr Diab is someone you might like. Jonathan

  6. indiepixie says hola I also recommend Juana Molina who has this crazy eclectic electronic flare- with tendencies to howl like a dog mid song. Also there is something so romantic with how the spanish words roll off into the space she creates between words. And of course, you know Rodrigo y Gabriella? With their history in heavy metal thrashing, they bring a new meaning to finger picking- one of the best live shows out there...crazy frenetic salsa rock with attitude.... Made it to #1 in Ireland! (ps I just joined this mog thing...good to hear about new sounds :) )
