Hey all,It's alternately really windy and pouring rain here - unfortunately for me, the pouring rain part occured during two of the three ten minute walks required on my long commute to work.Just posting a few random thoughts while I continue to dry off...I've got some new movies and some new music on the way to me, now I need new books! I just finished Chuck Klosterman's 'Fargo Rock City' a day or two ago - Damn funny stuff. I'm a huge Chuck fan anyway but if you've ever been into heavy metal - especially 80s heavy metal - I can't recommend this highly enough. Anyway, I've got his new one up next (after the Stephen Fry one I'm reading now) but as I tend to go to one every two or three days, it could be time to hit a library or bookstore soon. The iPhone backlash continues - I've been reading some technology blogs and they're all taking one of two positions - "F*ck Apple and their overpriced phone" or "F*ck the critics, gimme one!" Best point anyone's made so far is that by the third generation the price will have come down enough for us mere mortals, and most of the inevitable bugs will be gone. Only five or so years to wait...New girl in the office today and... well, let's just say that some guys are visibly struggling to maintain eye contact. You've probably noticed this already, but I'm finding a lot of things a bit of a let down lately. Last year saw the release of new albums by Snow Patrol, Dashboard Confessional and the Killers. In each case, I loved it's predecessor - they're all among my most played albums - but I felt vaguely let down by the new one. I know it always happens, and I usually end up finding something to love about the albums, but I'm still disappointed.Same thing with TV. Lately I've been watching 'Jericho' on Wednesdays and 'Standoff' on Thursdays. And, despite the fact that I think the premise for each show is cool, I can't help but feel that each one could have tried harder. They're just entertaining enough that I tune in the following week - but only just.Only three and a half more hours before I can go home and have a nice big spaghetti dinner and some 'Battlestar Galactica'...
