In the spirit of the season I bought tickets to a Dan Bern concert at our local performing arts center for mine spouse. I will admit I'd never heard Dan Bern and had no idea what to expect. My husband was more excited than the 11-year-old, prior to any gift receiving holiday so I was looking forward to the event. Have to admit, it was excellent...my only comment, and it's not a negative...it's obviously a character flaw on my part...What the heck was the song about Marilyn Monroe tied to a bed post in Paris all about? The song seemed chiefly concerned with "if only Marilyn Monroe had married Henry Miller." I enjoyed the rollicking fun lyrics, found myself singing along...but who the heck is Henry Miller and why would he have tied Marilyn Monroe to the bedpost? (my husband assures me anyone would have tied Marilyn Monroe to a bedpost, any bedpost so once again it's my character flaw in that I'm totally lost).

The above paragraph aside, really enjoyed Dan Bern, fun concert, good political commentary, intelligent lyrics (okay, he lost me on the whole Henry Miller but I still liked the song), highly highly recommend this fellah if he comes your way. I walked out with a smile on my face and lift in my step, can't imagine a better way to spend an evening...
