Help! My Kid's A Rock Star!

Posted about 1 year ago
Mitch Winehouse contemplates the horror of possibly losing his daughter Amy, Hank Harrison calls his daughter Courtney Love a sociopath, and Anthony Kiedis's dad Blackie Dammett wonders if people will think of him as a 'sicko nutcase'...

The documentary that was originally broadcast on UK TV last week, is about to disappear from "BBC iPlayer":http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/page/item/b009kfjn.shtml?q=%22one+life%22&start=1&scope=iplayersearch&version_pid=b009kf48, so I've made a transcript available.

  1. Cody B says Pretty harrowing stuff..Fame is a tough, but parenting ain't no joke either. Thanks for posting. I don't see a lot of therapists mentioned here, but they must definitely are in order.

  2. TylerDurden says firewalled from the site, so I'll try not to make an arse out of myself -> Wonder what Kerry King's parents thought? Dimebag's? Dave Mustaine's? Tupac's? how about Frank Zappa? Now son, get your lighter away from that can of gas? Don't hit yourself in the face with a brick, c'mon!

  4. christheskins says I had the sound down, matching the parents faces to the "stars" ..Blackie was the sweetest ,wasnt he,and painfully honest,in his acknowledgment of the "role reversal" going on between himself and his son...i turned the sound up for him... How DID you do that transcript?..surely that's not your handwriting!?..if it is,then go to the top of the class!!

  5. Jo says Apologies if the format is 'challenging', this was done on purpose (sorry!), for security reasons; and no, it wasn't written by hand (my typing's fast, my handwriting excruciating).

  9. Jonh Ingham says I thought this was a good docu. It's so easy to be cynical and smart arse but I don't notice rock stars coming from normal upbringings. Amy's dad seemed amazing, considering his daughter is a raving wino crack addict and the temptation to shove her in some Bedlam type rehab and throw away the key must be really strong. Blackie (Kiedis' dad ) was a case for further study - trying to justify his fatherly upbringing while feeling guilty as hell. Maybe he shouldn't have given Anthony the LSD. Good move making this available to all.

  10. Jo says The power in the docu was in part the contrasts displayed (that's why I kept the transcripts in the partitioned order like the broadcast was), yet at the same time that perhaps missed out on valuable parts of interview that may have taken place but were never broadcast... who knows.
