TOMORROW: Peaches & Herms + Eagles of Death Metal

Posted over 5 years ago
Peaches! Whutta dame. Of course her music is, for the most part, annoying and uninspired. But she knows how to put on a show, and so! Whenever you get a chance to see her live, you should take it.Like this weekend, for example. Tomorrow it is Peaches & The Herms (her backing band, which occasionally features Joan Jett) showing off the new sound (and that's less electro, more rap-rock to you). PLUS Eagles of Death Metal are opening!Go on, you'll have a great time.In honor of the occasion I found you some mashups! I was hoping for something along the lines of Peaches vs. Eagles of Death Metal, but there are apparently NO EDM mashups to be had yet on the Innernets. So, instead:Peaches vs. Strokes vs. Munster Theme - Juicebox RockPeaches vs. Gary Glitter - I Didn't Know (The Boys Wanna Be Her)-- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Peaches & The Herms, Eagles of Death MetalSaturday, August 5The Fillmore San Francisco$27.50

  3. jschweiss says Peaches I'm so-so on, but the link to the EoDM site informed me that Liam Lynch is directing a DVD for them, which has me uber-geeked. Monkey and Whore Monster Truck Tug of War forever!

  4. Rinserepeat says Peaches is hit-or-miss, but she's entertaining to be sure. There are a few tracks I've found on mp3 blogs lately that caught my attention, though. Go here and look for the following: Gay Bar (Electric Six cover) Downtown (Simian Mobile Disco mix) Bloc Party - Helicopter (Weird Science Remix) (Feat. Peaches)

  5. Jess Horrible says Yeah, Downtown is one of my favorites, too. I figured everyone had heard it enough, though, so I didn't post it. The simian mix, I DLed today. It's pretty good, you're right...

  6. jeej says I have real issues with Peaches. I just cant get on with gimmick music. It's strange, because outside of music I absolutely live for comedy, but I just cant have it in my music!

  8. Radiohumper says She is a music teacher about my age who doesn't pluck or shave or try to party like a rock star so when she performs, she totally admits it's all a gimmick. She's a modern cabaret act, and she pretty much made me love her forever after she showed up for the Veterans For Peace show for Troops Home Fast. Anybody can sing about sex and death. But it takes a really special person to get the peace movement to quit singing depressing corny old songs about dead flowers. ""I asked to be either before or after Chuck D. from Public Enemy. So I got to introduce Chuck D. after my song and got to talk about how important he is. And it's just like, 'Hello?' Why is it that only in the'80s that we accepted a) Politics in music; b) Gender in music; and c) Race in music? Now everybody's like 'Sex is so'80s' because in the'90s everybody just looked down at their shoes and went 'Aww, let's just do heroin.'" Like I said, love her.

  10. Slicing says I'd never heard of her until about a year ago.I was really surprised that I liked her music because I hate most rap, especially the Lil' Kim-esque type music.Ok,I think I like it mainly because I can shake my ass to it and feel somewhat empowered.
