YOU CAN'T NOT GET NO SATISFACTION

So, in the end, I decided to use my soulseek powers for good and for awesome: I am rediscovering the music of my adult youth. You know? The music we all used to listen to in Yedi's cluttered basement room, which had elaborate systems of cloths covering the ventilation pipes running along the ceiling? At those parties where, at any time, a girl might wander in and suddenly strip to panties, laughing hysterically, and jump into the pile of prostrate bodies strewn across the floor?Last spring, on one of our monthly 100mph blasts from SF to the Black Rock Desert, Edub's mp3 player was regurgitating mid-90's trip hop. He laughed."We were probably lying on top of each other listening to this same song, five years ago."I had to agree. We probably were.So today it is the K&D Sessions! Tomorrow, perhaps it will be Gus Gus! But of course nobody can bring back Tha Roman, and nobody can bring back Yedi's basement room, or the innocence we lost therein...PS oh my GOD, they can bring back Tha Roman! Go here and listen to Beginning Music from start to finish! I just died and went to tripper heaven.PPS now it is only a matter of time for my innocence to come back too. right?

  4. aksteele says OMG - isn't it funny how music dates itself? K&D sessions, gus gus, mezzanine, hooverphonic - they are still great, but I somehow can't dissociate them from their time and place. When I try to pass them on now, people just tell me that they're cheesy. They were so not cheesy.

  6. Parker catalano says It's all about DJ Kicks with them too. when I realized that K&D is sort of like middle age stoner music, it turned me off at first, but then I dove right into that shit. Nice post.
