Some songs make me happy because they happen to be good songs and I love to hear them. Some songs evoke emotions because I identify with the lyrics. And some songs bring a rush of almost-forgotten memories along with their opening chords. "Let Go" is one of those songs. I remember seeing Garden State in theatres, tears streaming down my face as my favorite on-screen kiss played out. I remember kissing my ex, my first love, as this song played. That was our best kiss.I remember bawling my eyes out after my nasty break-up whenever this song played late at night. The lyrics never rang more true than at those moments.I remember being sunburned and tired, cramped in the backseat of the car on the way home from the beach, making a new memory. A simple kiss with my new boyfriend to remember in the place of all the old.Other songs have memories attached to them, but no song has as many memories as this song.
