Golux13 and I went to the Wire show at Metro last month (yay!). While the show was quality, the duration was sadly lacking. With doors at 9pm and an opening band one might expect to still be enjoying live music at, say, 12:30 am. Chicago was, evidently, the last stop on the tour. The crowd was stupifyingly sedare. Perhaps that's a contributing factor for the short show? We met a guy who showed up at the beginning of their second encore because he thought they wouldn't be taking the stage until then. Which serves to prove this was a highly unusual show for the Metro crowd.
On the plus side, they sounded great, played songs from across their career and came back for two or three encores (I don't remember, I'm old!). And we had fun. So there.

My bf saw them in the UK, and that show lasted about an hour and ten to twenty minutes.
That aside, the hour it ends also depends on when the supporting act goes on stage.
As long as they were good, all else is immaterial (within rational margins, of course)! :)
Oh, and I'm jel! I never had the pleasure to go bonkers to their live show :)
