Man, what a great show last night. They played just about everything I wanted to hear, with the exception of 'Little Black Ache' and a few others. I suppose they couldn't have played everything. I was less than thrilled with the venue, The Paper Heart. It had all these couches and chairs around the stage, like a doggone coffee house. This was a rock show! There's no couches at a rock show! The highlight was Bishop Allen playing 'Busted Heart' and then segueing right into 'Middle Management'

No Page France in LA, either. Very sad, I was looking forward to their set. But on an upnote, wow - Bishop Allen can play! One of the best shows of the summer.

Thanks for the concert report. I hear you on the couches. The one good thing about a place with couches is that it is usually small and a small venue is fun when you can just be right there with the band. It is almost like a really cool personal experience...which it sounds like you have had. A few shows that I have been to with couches were pretty cool. Because I was able to stand on the couch and get a better view...so dont be so quick to write off couches. :)

I don't know why I didn't tell you about them. In my defense, which is pretty weak, I did have them on my 'shows I'm going to see' section of my Mog for like a month or so. Like I said, weak. Anyway, Bishop Allen are two guys from New York that do really great indie-pop. Last year, they released a EP a month for the entire year. They're all good but my favorites are the February EP and the March EP. If you go to http://bishopallen.com/ there are a few mp3s you can download. The crowd at The Paper Heart was real sedate, and sat on those couches like lumps, there was no standing on couches for better views. So I couldn't get closer to the stage, with out disrupting some couch potato's view.
