I have this track in my collection and I can't for the life of me remember who this is. The song is called "Awakening". Anyone know who this is? (I uploaded the mp3)

Corey Christiansen Quartet http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:f9fpxqqsldse It's a good piece, I originally thought it was the Brecker Brothers but, alas. I Love Allmusic.com for exactly this reason.

Other Tags: Top 20 Jazz Songs of All Time

As an eclectic Jazz music lover, I own a variety of Jazz music from Miles Davis - to Spyro Gyra - to Mahavishnu Orchestra. I have put together what I consider my Top Twenty Jazz Songs of All Time. The Pat Metheny Group is listed twice on my list. I consider them to be the best Jazz-Fusion band today, period!

I know that this could start a minor war (or at least a battle of opinions). I don't mind, that's what Jazz is all about - varying opinions based on how we interpret the music. Well, here they are from 1 to 20. Now, have at it:

Miles Davis - So What John Coltrane - A Love Supreme Pat Metheny - To The End Of The World Sarah Vaughan - April in Paris Miles Davis - All Blues Pat Metheny - Are you going with Me John Coltrane - My Favourite Things Horace Silver - Song For My Father Stan Getz / Gilberto - The Girl from Ipanema Ahmad Jamal - Poinciana Dave Brubeck - Blue Rondo a la Turk Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit Dave Brubeck - Take Five Nat King Cole – Unforgettable Sonny Rollins - Alfie Weather Report - River People Wayne Shorter - Speak no evil Mahavishnu Orchestra – You Know, You Know Thelonious Monk - Round Midnight Charles Mingus - Goodbye Pork Pie Hat

Kind of wild not seeing any Ella Fitzgerald or Louis Armstrong on there.

Welcome to MOG!
