WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

This Makes Me Happy!

"Lady Ella" a.k.a. "First Lady of Song" probably recorded more albums than any Jazz Vocal artist I know of. The last time I checked, I own about 50 of her albums. And I mean legitimate albums, not compilations. This particular album on a Verve re-issue was originally recorded in 1958 and directed by the great Norman Granz. ALL (I say again, ALL) of the songs are upbeat and can't help but make the listener "happy!'"Gypsy in My Soul" is probably my most favorite on the album, but "Goody-Goody" and "Blue Skies" are very close seconds. Come to think of it, "St. Louis Blues" ain't half bad....Verve was kind enought to include "A-Tisket, a-Tasket" as a bonus track on their re-issue (Ella must have re-recorded this song at least 30 times during her very long career. This particular version has a sort of latin beat.)For those of you who are really into Jazz Vocals, Ella is backed up by the Frank DeVol Orchestra, Freddy Paich, and Nelson Riddle!
