WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

"New" Jersey Bounce

Posted over 2 years ago
Continuing the "New Jersey" Jazz music theme, here's an oldie performed by Lady Ella. I'm only guessing here, but I believe that this tune started out as an instrumental for the Big Bands, and lyrics might have been added later...Anyone familiar with Jersey will recognize this songs references to Journal Square and other New Jersey lingo...As far as I can tell from my collection, Ella recorded it twice. Earliest on "Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie!" and at a much later date on "All That Jazz."The song has been covered by The King Sisters, Ella Mae Morse, Red Norvo, Les Brown, and Ole Rasmussen & His Nebraska Cornhuskers. (Good for you Ole Rasmussen!)
