I've hands down found my new favorite live show. If my crowd of friends alone was any indication of the dicotomy of audience members at the gogol bordello show, I should have known. Indeed, it shouldn't have surprised me that such eclectic bands would draw an eclectic audience. I can't even get into opening bands: the sheer brevity and confidence of Dan Sartain, the over the top integrated story methods of valiant thorr ("Ronald Reagan was an evil man, he wrote many trilogies, don't let him fool you, one of which was Star Wars."). In the end, the opening bands were overshadowed by a 45 minute set of the most raccous, energetic performance ever witnessed. This was broken by a 5 minute intermission, after which proceeded the 40 minute, equally energetic encore. The House of Blues is on the ground floor, and the floor shook enough to make you loose your equilibrium. I suppose the only true conclusion that can be made is that banks are ruining the world, but only because they are under the unbreakable influence of American sports team, who obviously...are stealing our spirit.
