Celtic Frost, 1349, Sunn 0))) & Goatwhore.

Ahh yes...can't wait cuz about 24 hours from now I'll just be getting home from seeing Celtic Frost, 1349, and - hopefully I will miss Sunn 0))) & Goatwhore. Problem is, 1349 opens and Celtic Frost headlines, so I'll probably have to go upstairs and each some nachos or something for 2 sets while all the "troo doom" noobs nod to Yawn 0))) and I'll probably check out Goatwhore for a few songs, but I'm not expecting much.Reports from friends in NYC say that 1349 have kicked asss and that Celtic Frost have been playing all the old stuff and none of the new stuff, so that should be cool.Anybody else goin gto the Fillmore to see this gig?Probably not seeing as it isn't "TV On The Radio" or (insert trendy band here)...

  2. ivylander says You speak as if anybody who doesn't like metal has some trendoid agenda. Not so. I just don't happen to care for it. I don't hate on those who do. Live and let live, y'know. Over and out. But doesn't Goatwhore sound like the band Nigel Tufnel started after Tap finally broke up for the last time?

  3. Kevbo says I'm asking this innocently... are the three guys pictured Celtic Frost, and ummm, are they an 80's parody band or something, aka Spinal Tap?

  4. tnstranger says Seeing them in St. Louis!! Can't wait. Yes folks, Metal can look rediculous. I'll take it over most indie anyday, but that's just me...

  6. Tony Scalzo says I love metal. My kids love metal. Sabbath, Motorhead, Slayer, Metallica My brother and my nephew love metal. Megadeth, Priest, Sepultura, Death Angel My girlfriend does not like metal. Some of those bands on the bill aren't really metal, but they're something else. That's cool. Celtic Frost will be metal. I like anything that I don't dislike. There's no Austin show or I'd be there.

  10. Jase7734 says Yeah... I have noticed that people do hate on the metal around here; 90% of the MOGOS posts are about bands I don't particularly care for so I just don't comment.

  12. Kevbo says But, hey, the more the merrier. Pimp the metal and I'm sure you'll see people come out of the woodwork. I'm not a metal fan at all except for some of the classic dinosaur bands that pioneered the stuff in the 60's/70's but rock on with your taste in metal on MOG. Diversity's a good thing here. It'd be nice to see not every post be about the latest indie darling (not to say that currently every post is, of course.) "INDIE MEANS HAVING A LOT OF FREE TIME" Hah! Excellent point PIMP! I read many people's posts and think, my bob, how the hell do they have to time to keep up with the scene!

  13. Jase7734 says Thanks Kevbo. I do actually listen to all kinds of stuff, but I do tend to lean more towards what alot of people aren't, and not by choice...maybe I have bad taste I don't know, but what works works. Thanks for the nice comment :)

  14. RobinH says Think Celtic Frost, think "Death Grunt":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_grunt. Several bands seem to have built a career around certain "Celtic Frost":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_Frost and "Hellhammer":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellhammer songs.
