I'm having a general Cardigans day today, and found the video for "Sick And Tired" from their 1996 "Life" album. I've liked the album a lot for years but I'd never seen the video until today. For such a dour lyrical message, the music's so sweet and simple and the video suits it perfectly.Talking of Cardigans videos, Youtube also has the banned video for "My Favourite Game". It's bizarre that the vid was so heavily censored when you consider that the material is nothing worse than you'd see on a regular evening TV show.I know many say that The Cardigans output over recent albums has been pretty conventional and much less inventive compared to their early work, but they still create some top singles, and "I Need Some Fine Wine And You, You Need To Be Nicer" from the "Super Extra Gravity" album is as good in my opinion as anything from "Emmerdale" or "Life".And finally, I'm one of the few who actually thinks that the song below is one of the best singles of 2007.Thanks Nina...stay beautiful.

You know, it's interesting how physical beauty is such a strong influence over acceptance of an artist - and I am certainly NOT immune to that. The Cardigans is a name I think I've read over and over, and somehow connected to other bands, specifically Catatonia but I just discovered them through these videos. They are ALL good, and that last one is indeed a great, great single. Is that last one purely The Cardigans, or them teamed up with another band?
The Cardigans are going on my MUST BUY list.

I love how sneaky the Cardigans are, making people sing along to the most sour lyrucs, hidden behind those bubbly melodies, and that lovely face. I wish they were better known in the States, or at least known for more than "Lovefool".

I'm guilty to an extent of exactly the same as your comment. There are one or two female lead singers that I find more beautiful because they're easy on the eye AND make some great music. The single that you and I like is by The Manic Street Preachers with Nina guesting from their new album.
If you want any of The Cardigans albums I can burn them and post them to you. Send me a mail.

Dale,
Good point. I actually think "lovefool" is a bit of a yoke around their necks and it's not enhanced their development across the Atlantic. You see, they were pretty well known and respected in Europe and Asia BEFORE "Lovefool" and that's enabled them to have a much stronger following.
I wonder how many bands have given songs to movie soundtracks and it's killed their commercial development in a particular country ? I think The Cardigans are certainly one and although I don't particularly dislike "Lovefool", it's certainly not one of their best IMO.

Jammy Jeff - Thank you for your generous offer, but I prefer to buy CDs and put some money in the artists pocket. Please don't interpret this as criticism.
